The Wonderful World of Cinema’s Cast (and Crew) Photos Competition: Round 1

I love movie cast pictures! As a fun activity, I’ve decided to organize a sort of competition in order to determinate which one is our favourite! There is no real objective in that, except fun, but we’ll try to do something original with the winning picture. Maybe reviewing the actual film?

In order to determinate our favourite pic, I’ve chosen cast pictures from a total of 50 films. I’ve put myself a time limit and only included films of the 20th century. Obviously, I couldn’t pic all movies that exist because there are too many and this would never end, but I went with some that had interesting cast pictures. Most of them are well-known classics, but there are a few exceptions.

To be eligible, a picture must represent the cast in a “staged” picture. What I mean is, it cannot be a picture that comes directly from the film. For example, this picture from It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World! actually comes from a scene in the film, so it wouldn’t be eligible.

The pics I chose are pics of the actors that were used to promote the film or simply a pic that has been taken on the set, with no particular setting at a moment where the actors  were not shooting. You can see, in these pics, some actors that are actually never together in the film. The pictures are group pictures, so there must be a minimum of three actors in them. I’ve put “and crew” in brackets because it’s possible that some members of the crew are present in the picture, such as the director for example.

The pictures are teamed together by pair for the first round. You simply vote for your favourite one. So, for the first round, there’s a total of 25 matches. The winning pictures will move to the 2nd round and so on, until we’ll have a winner.

The matches have been picked randomly, so everything is fair. There might be a film from the 40s vs a film from the 90s, but remember that a cast picture remains a cast picture.

Important:

1- You have three days to vote. The vote for this round starts today and ends on March 17 at 11:59 pm.

2- Vote for your favourite PHOTO, not for your favourite film. Meaning that you can vote for every match, even if you haven’t seen all the films. Even I, there are a few I still haven’t seen. Look at the pictures’ composition, how it is visually, etc. Think that the film might be one that you hate, but that the casting picture is great. Or the opposite.

3- Don’t pay too much attention to the quality of the photo. I’ve tried as much as possible to take pictures of good quality, but in some cases it was more difficult. As I’ve said, try to look at the composition as much as possible.

4- The choices on the poll are presented as so: the top choice corresponds to the left picture and the bottom choice corresponds to the right picture. This is just a way for you to not get mixed up in case you haven’t seen the film and don’t know too much about its actors.

5- Share the poll with your friends! We want as many participants as possible!

Let’s the matches begin!
