Hello, my name is Virginie Pronovost and I am your blogger at The Wonderful World of Cinema. 🙂 I was born in 1995 and I’m from Montreal.

I completed a Master of Art of Cinema Studies at Stockholm University (you can read my thesis on screwball comedy here), a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts (Specialization Film Studies with Distinction) at Concordia University and a screenwriting certificate at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQÀM). Screenwriting is another cherished hobby of mine. I’m currently working as a community manager in film festivals in Montreal and also write for Séquences, a film magazine published in Quebec that exists since the late 50s. I love everything about cinema, particularly classic films. I watch a lot of films and I have a great collection of DVDs and books about cinema. My interest for cinema began more or less at the age of 15. My favourite director is Alfred Hitchcock, my favourite actors is are James Stewart, William Holden and Arthur Kennedy, my favourite actresses are Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Ingrid Bergman (you can check my blog dedicated to them here), and my favourite movie is Some Like it Hot. And, like every cinephile who respects herself, I have my proud guilty pleasures such as disaster movies of the 70s (brilliantly scored by John Williams!) and the Carry Ons!

I’ve decided to start a blog simply because it looked nice. I know some people who are running one and I really admire their work, so I wanted to do the same. It became an addictive activity, and it’s a way for me to express my love for films on an other place than Facebook. As you can see, this blog mainly presents movie reviews, top list and tributes. You’ll rarely see a review of a movie that I don’t like. Why? Because, I don’t really like writing about stuff I don’t like. It’s not motivating. This blog has for main objective to honour films and celebrate them. Hopefully, I’m also spreading the love of classics towards people of my generation as well.
