Yeah, yeah, yeah! You’ve read that correctly. One of my favourite blogathons to host is back for a 6th edition this April! The 6th Golden Boy Blogathon, celebrating one of my very very favourite actors: the one and only William Holden!
Furthermore, I’m thrilled that Emily from The Flapper Dame (another huge William Holden fan) accepted to join forces and co-host again! Sadly, Michaela from Love Letters to Old Hollywood, who completed our awesome trio in the past editions, was not available to join.
William Holden is one of those actors who didn’t impress me at first, but at some point, there was a click, and suddenly, I wanted to see all his films (I can check that from my bucket list – yeah, I’ve seen all his films! Brag). So, celebrating him through a blogathon, is the best way a film blogger can share his admiration for him with readers and other bloggers.
The event will take place from April 16 to 17, on what would have been Bill Holden’s 106th birthday. If you wish to participate, please take a close look at the following rules and guidelines:
1- To subscribe, choose a subject related to William Holden. It can be anything related to him as long as it is done with respect (please be tactful if you mention his alcoholism).
- This year, we’re doing things differently, and won’t allow duplicates! Bill played in over 70 films, so there are plenty to choose from. You can also write about any subject surrounding his life and career without focusing on a specific film. Of course, we could allow duplicates for something very personal, such as a tribute.
- In the same order of idea, we will allow a maximum of TWO entries/blogger. Try, however, not to monopolize all the big titles and leave some for the other.
- Once you have your subject in mind, please submit it to the comments section. Let us know what you’d like to write about, and also provide the name of your blog and its URL. You can comment here or on Emily’s blog.
2- Once your subject is approved, we invite you to help us spread the word by displaying one of those banners on your blog and on different social media. I also included story formats that you can also use on your Instagram!
3- As mentioned before, the blogathon will start on April 16 and end on April 17. Please make sure to submit your entry on one of these dates. We’ll accept late entries. However, we might be busy with other stuff and blogathons afterwards.
- We will each host a day. Emily will host day 1 on April 16 and I will host day 2 on April 17. Make sure to submit your entry on the right blog depending on the day you publish.
- When the blogathon will begin, we will add new posts where you’ll be able to submit your entries.
4- Lastly, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Remember that the objective of this event is to honour William Holden, so please remain respectful towards him.
- Everybody is welcome to participate (we can even arrange for you to be a guest writer if you don’t have a blog!). However, if you want to participate, please make sure to subscribe first. Don’t write an entry without subscribing and assume we will include it in the blogathon. And don’t worry, we’ll accept very late-minute subscriptions. The more the merrier!
5- If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! Help us promote the blogathon by sharing it!
And here are the participant blogs and their subject!

I love William Holden!! I’ll actually be at the TCMFF during the time of the blogathon, but I will write my post ahead of time and schedule it to post on time. I’ll have my laptop, so I’ll try to submit the link during the event.
I would like to write about “Sunset Boulevard” !

Hi Virginie. I’ve been wanting to write about Bill’s guest appearance on “I Love Lucy” entitled “LA At Last” for yonks – so put me down for that. Thanks.
P.S – I’m still working on my really late Clara Bow article. I haven’t had much time to devote to it.

Not seen this one, I am hoping that you bring this back next year. I have an audiobook about the making of The Towering Inferno which I have still to listen to…

I’ve been meaning to delve into Picnic for years now. This gives me an incentive to finally do so.
